[KB1204] Why can’t I see ClickShare in my list of wireless networks? (FAQ)

Short Description

This can depend on the configuration of the ClickShare Base Unit: you can select whether the ClickShare Base Unit’s SSID (Service Set Identifier) is broadcast or not.

Answer

This depends on the configuration of the Base Unit: within the ClickShare Base Unit’s web interface you can select whether the ClickShare Base Unit’s SSID (Service Set Identifier) is broadcast or not. If the SSID is broadcast, the network will appear in your list of wireless networks. If the SSID is not broadcast, it depends on your operating system and the software you use to scan for wireless networks or devices. At most, a network called “SSID not broadcast” or “Hidden WLAN” (or something similar) will show up in the list of wireless networks. By default, the SSID is broadcast.

Note: The ClickShare Base Unit is broadcast on a 5Hz frequency by default, some PC or laptop do not detect this frequency.
