[KB1469] Always upgrade from ClickShare version 01.03 to 01.04 before moving to version 01.05 or higher versions? (FAQ)

Important notice for updating to software version 01.05 and above on CSC-1 The firmware versions 01.04 and above are digitally signed to increase their level of security. To change from an unsigned firmware version to signed firmware, an intermediate step is required. This step is included in firmware version 01.04. As a result, to update from firmware version 01.03 to firmware version 01.05 you must first update from version 01.03 to 01.04, and then update the firmware from version 01.04 to 01.05 or higher. When updating firmware version 01.04 to higher versions, no special action is required. Downgrading a firmware version to an older version does not require an intermediate step.

[KB1280] What should I do if I get a “waiting for button” message when I’m trying to use ClickShare? (Troubleshooting)

Some computers have proprietary software installed that tries to connect with the ClickShare Button, e.g. Dell XPS13 computers have music management software called "Dell Stage" or "Dell Music Stage" installed. This software prevents the Button connecting with the ClickShare application. To resolve the problem, please uninstall or disable this software before using ClickShare.

[KB1279] Why can’t I start the ClickShare application? (Troubleshooting)

An organization’s IT security measures may prevent users meeting participants from using ClickShare. Typical measures include: • USB port blocking, which prevents the ClickShare button being recognized when it is inserted into a laptop – if this happens the LED ring does not light up and the ClickShare drive does not appear on the laptop screen • Prevention of application launching from mass storage devices, which results in an error message that the ClickShare application cannot be started every time it is double clicked. If you encounter these issues please contact your IT department. Refer to info T 1149

[KB1240] Will ClickShare work with Mac virtualisation software such as Parallels? (FAQ)

There are two methods of displaying content on ClickShare if you are using virtualisation software on Mac OS/X such as Parallels: 1. The user can assign the USB port to the host machine (OS/X). In this case, Parallels content is treated like just any other application, in other words, the users main display is shown by ClickShare. 2. The user can assign the USB port to the virtual machine (e.g. Windows). In that case, the Windows desktop will be shown in normal mode. When in Unity mode, there is no Windows desktop - in this case, it is better to use option (1) as described above.

[KB1198] Do you offer a solution to protect the ClickShare Buttons from theft? (FAQ)

We do not offer a specific solution to protect the ClickShare Buttons or detect that they leave the room. However, their design avoids confusion with a USB flash drive. Moreover, the ClickShare Button is designed in such a way that people will notice it when walking away from the meeting room (weight, size, cable,…). In the rare case that one takes the Button away from a meeting room by mistake, the AV Manager can pair the Button, when returned, with any meeting room. The ClickShare Button can only be used in combination with a ClickShare Base Unit.

[KB1196] Do I need to install any software or an app on my PC or Mac to use ClickShare? (FAQ)

No, when you plug in the ClickShare Button, a drive will appear on your computer as a mass storage device. On this ClickShare drive, an executable program (file extension .exe) is available for Windows and for Mac. Double clicking this executable will start ClickShare application. When the meeting has ended, you can simply remove the ClickShare Button and nothing will be left on your computer. If you prefer, you can install ClickShare Launcher, which will ensure that ClickShare always opens automatically when a Button is inserted in your PC or Mac. Visit the Technical Downloads section of the ClickShare product at www.barco.com. You will need admin rights for your computer to install the ClickShare Launcher software.

[KB1195] Can you use ClickShare to wake up a display or projector or put one on standby? (FAQ)

Yes. In the configuration options available via the web interface of the ClickShare Base Unit you can adjust the ClickShare standby and screensaver settings. When configuring the ClickShare Base Unit on the web interface, you can define a period of inactivity in the display settings, after which the unit will mute the video output to the display or projector and if configured correctly this can put the display or projector into standby mode. As soon as a ClickShare Button is plugged into the laptop and connecting to the Base Unit, the Base Unit restores the video output signal to the display or projector, showing a welcome message or introduction screen. Another way to control the standby behavior of the ClickShare Base Unit is by pressing the standby button at the front of the unit.
