BARCO Achieves FDA Clearance for MGD521 Diagnostic Greyscale Display
KORTRIJK, BELGIUM, 11 May, 1998 -- BARCO is pleased to announce to have received 510(k) clearance from the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) for their MGD521 Diagnostic Greyscale Display. It is the second time this year that BARCO has achieved FDA clearance for one of its medical displays. This again confirms the recognition the company has gained for its technological expertise in high-resolution image-critical displays for clinical and diagnostic applications.
The MGD521 Diagnostic Greyscale Display has been designed for diagnostic imaging applications and facilitates medical decision making. The high-bright portrait monitor is capable of handling 2000 x 2500 pixels (5 MegaPixel) and is supported by BARCO’s WAVE display technology and BARCO’s MediCal® software for image display quality assurance.The MGD521 incorporates TrueGrey®, Automatic White Stability and a Luminance Uniformity Correction system which are unique in the industry. The Luminance Uniformity Correction ensures that the displayed medical image has the same brightness level across the entire display surface, even in the corners.
These specific MGD521 features provide unequalled image fidelity and stability over time and across displays, during the whole economic lifetime of the product. Image astigmatism is controlled through a 25 zone digital correction.
Applications such as PACS, digital radiography and digital mammography require all the technical capabilities BARCO implements in its MGD521, in order to obtain filmless perfection.
