Barco announces new primary flight display with innovative touch screen technology
Paris Air Show, Paris, France, 18 June 2007 - Visualization specialist Barco has announced a new version of its CHDD-268 primary flight and mission display, featuring brand-new touch screen technology. The new technology overcomes the typical drawbacks of conventional touch screen devices, such as limited viewing angles, low reliability and disturbing reflections. By adopting this innovative technique, Barco's CHDD-268 succeeds in offering a very flexible and efficient man machine interface, while keeping optical quality at the highest level.
Barco's CHDD-268 is a DO-178B and DO-254 level A certified avionics display optimized for a variety of video applications, including FLIR, mission display, weather display, enhanced vision systems, moving map applications and primary flight applications (EFIS). For the latter, Barco presents its PU-2000 as a symbol generator source and its MOSArt platform for third party software development. Accepting a multitude of digital and analog video inputs, the CHDD-268 integrates easily into a host of new and retrofit cockpit environments.The advanced CHDD-268 has a sunlight-readable, NVG compliant 6 x 8 inch, AMLCD screen featuring unique LED backlight technology. It presents pilots with ultra-bright images full of contrast, while ensuring maximum reliability over the entire lifetime of the display. The CHDD-268 also offers a viewing angle of 80° in all directions, which facilitates cross-cockpit scanning by either pilot.
Barco's new touch screen technology is being demonstrated at Paris Airshow, in hall 2B, stand J5.
