Winkler Veranstaltungstechnik AG chooses Barco for a 360° projection in the Swiss Pavilion during the Shanghai World Expo
Kortrijk, Belgium, 6 July 2010. Winkler Veranstaltungstechnik AG, a leading full-service provider of AV equipment, has partnered with Barco for a 360° projection in the Swiss Pavilion during the Shanghai World Expo. A total of 21 CLM HD8 projectors work together to create picture perfect images in the urban area of the Pavilion.
With its external chairlift, the Swiss Pavilion is a true eye-catcher during the 2010 World Expo. Switzerland addresses the Expo with the “rural-urban interaction” subtheme, referring to the importance of the interaction between town and countryside. Because of its geographical characteristics, the country has both large urban and rural areas. For many years, it has been looking for sustainable solutions to protect and maintain its natural habitats, in combination with improving the living conditions in urban areas. The Swiss Pavilion is a symbol of this interaction between urban and rural regions. The chairlift takes visitors up to the flower beds of the green roof, as a symbol of the natural environment. In contrast, the interior area stands for the urban part, where 21 Barco CLM HD8 projectors are used to create a 360° projection showing visitors images of the cities Zürich, Basel and Geneva.
Winkler Veranstaltungstechnik AG is responisble for the planning and technical realisation of all AV equipment. “We have experience with Barco's CLM HD8 projectors and have learned that they are ideal to use in multi-projector applications thanks to their light weight and easy stacking options. Furthermore, they are extremely reliable and we are able to benefit from personal Barco on-site assistance during the Expo,” says Patrick Winkler from Winkler VST AG.
The CLM HD8 is a compact single-chip DLP projector with 8,000 lumens light output that delivers crisp, clean video and graphic images in native HD resolution. Its compact size, light weight and low noise levels make the CLM digital projectors the ideal solution for both small and midsize venues.
