OPScenter's open and modular software architecture is characterized by functional building blocks. This approach allows you to build or upgrade your system step by step and makes your system ready for future technology developments. From standalone systems to fully fledged networked visualization, choosing OPScenter Airport Display Solutions is the most cost-efficient approach to accomplish your operational display system.

  • Display
The OPScenter display component provides ready-made display components which are ideally suited for the visualization of complex traffic situations and simulations. OPScenter supports raw video (radar scan conversion), multi-format map presentation, multi-layer display, track display and interaction, electronic flight strips, online drawing, recording and playback, and 3D OpenGL.
  • Sensor interfacing & processing
The sensor interfacing and processing component includes standardized interfaces for radar data acquisition and processing from all common radar sources. Be it a Radar Video Network for sensor data acquisition and distribution via LAN/WAN, or dedicated sensor processing components such as a Radar Extractor/Tracker or a Multi Sensor Tracker - OPScenter has the answer.
  • Central data services
The OPScenter data services component handles the administration of the system's data flow for better data distribution and consistency. This component offers support for high- and low-level data, for object-oriented and stream data, as well as for point-to-point and broadcast communications.
  • Simulation and training
OPScenter's simulation and training component has been designed to simulate air traffic in a simple, yet efficient manner. The simulator generates sensor measurements and related flight data, such as radar or tracker data. Thanks to the possibility to simulate a large number of aircraft, even complex traffic scenarios can be created. As such, OPScenter supports system tests, evaluation of possible operational improvements and air traffic controller training sessions, for instance by exercises based on real traffic scenarios recorded from operational situations. To provide realistic models of aircraft flight dynamics, the OPScenter simulation and training component can be enhanced with a trajectory prediction engine, which is part of Barco's OSYRIS Arrival Manager.
  • Safety Net
The OPScenter Safety Net component supports the detection of air traffic conflicts. Safety Net functions include Short Term Conflict Alert (STCA) within configurable look-ahead times, tailored to small and medium-sized airports, Area Proximity Warning (APW), and Minimum Safe Altitude Warning (MSAW). The heart of Safety Net is a Conflict Detection Engine that continuously analyses the traffic situation and calculates various conflict types for all traffic objects.
  • Interface components
OPScenter offers interfaces to most common external systems, including radar data processing systems (ASTERIX), weather and NOTAM information systems, database systems and data exchange between centers.
  • Recording and playback
The OPScenter recording and playback component supports various types of recording and playback, including data stream recording (especially ASTERIX), raw video, X11, and OpenGL recording. OPScenter, which makes use of TELLAR, Barco's proven display recording software, also offers the option of voice recording and voice-playback synchronization.
  • System management
With the OPScenter system management component, Barco offers a tool for complete system control at the highest technological level: System Monitoring, Control, and Failover (SMCF). The OPScenter system management component provides a user interface for the visualization, supervision and control of all hardware and software within a heterogeneous environment. Next to the manual intervention possibilities, the SMCF system reacts on either hardware or software failures, automatically restarting failed processes and peripherals and moving processes from one host to another.
  • Service components
On customer demand, Barco's OPScenter Airport Display Solution can be extended with additional functionality, such as user role/access management.
