DM - Display Module:
The MRFD’s Display Module (DM) displays camera images, radar data and graphics, which are digitally mixed by the DCM. All DM's are completely enclosed and have front filters bonded to the LCD for improved optical performance and superior ruggedization. The DM can be equipped with Barco's unique patented LCD Flicker Compensation solution (LFC).

DCM - Display Control Module:
The DCM, a modular electronics box, provides the interface with the user's hardware and the DM. The board slots of the DCM (available are 2, 4 and 6 slot) are configured to suit each customer's requirements. The basic, lowest cost configuration consists of a Power Supply Board and the Signal Interface Board. By selecting additional functional boards (i.e digital, analog or camera input boards), users can define a configuration that meets their specific requirements

Main Features:

  • Superior ruggedization for use in airborne applications:
    • Rapid decompression: 5,000 ft - 35,000 ft @1in Hg/s
    • Crash safety: 40g - 9ms
    • Vibration: MIL-E-5400T curve IIIb (5g sine)
  • Maximum four inputs (up to three simultaneously displayed) from:
    • Up to (2) analog (RGB) inputs
    • Up to (2) digital (DVI) inputs
    • Up to (2) video inputs (NTSC, PAL, RGB, ...)
  • LCD Display Modules from 17" to 24"
  • Resolution from SXGA to WUXGA
  • On board video mixing
  • Optional LCD flicker Compensation
  • Front bonded LCD Display Modules
  • Two levels of ruggedization (MRFD features extended environmental specifications in comparison with MFD)
  • Fully enclosed modules

DCM Functional Boards:

  • The Power Supply Board (PSB) accepts either AC or DC voltages
  • The Interface Mother board (IMB) processes the serial communication commands; mixes graphics and video from the RGB input and image input boards; and provides digital output to the DM. If standard display functionality is needed, customers can opt for a dual-slot Display Control Module, in which the IMB is replaced by a Signal Input Board (SIB) that accepts RGB input
  • Both the Digital Input Board (DIB) and Analog Input Board (AIB) accept RGB inputs. The DCM can have maximum two of these boards
  • The Image Input Board (IIB) is an image processing board for video (and graphics) mixing. It accepts video or RGB inputs up to 1K x 1K. The DCM can have a maximum of two image input boards and up to two windows can be simultaneously displayed on top of the primary image. These windows can be sized or moved anywhere on the screen.
