Airbus A380
Case study
Barco has been awarded several contracts to deliver state-of-the-art display technology for the Airbus A380, the largest airliner in the world.
The A380's cockpits will be equipped with Barco's Onboard Information Terminal (OIT). The user-friendly and powerful OIT will bring enhanced efficiency and will allow for a truly paperless cockpit environment. With OIT, the A380's pilots will be able to access a multitude of information sources, such as system status information, weather data, maps, charts, manuals, checklists, etc.
Barco was also selected to deliver the A380's Onboard Maintenance Terminals (OMT). The OMT is a DO-160 qualified laptop PC for the operational A380 cockpit environment. With the OMT, airframe operators can use all normal PC functions and access maintenance applications that supervise the aircraft’s avionics health status.
Every A380 will also be equipped with Barco's powerful Terminal Processor Unit featuring an integrated dual Pentium® processor. The TPU provides an independent platform specifically developed to host airline specific applications, such as flight schedules, electronic mail, policy documents, general airline data, etc.
