Tussauds London Planetarium

Tussauds London Planetarium

Case study

For over 40 years, the world famous Madame Tussauds London Planetarium has enthralled visitors with star shows. Today, the experience is more exciting than ever, thanks to the new 3D programs ready to be admired in a full-resolution projection. Essential in the optimized solution are the BarcoReality 909 projectors combined with the Digistar 3 System technology from Evans & Sutherland.

‘Journey to infinity’ and ‘Wonders of the Universe’ are projected through a six-channel system, using BarcoReality 909 CRT projectors each delivering a 1280 by 1024 pixel format that totals 6 million pixels. Full 3D effects and highest resolution pictures contribute to an unprecedented realism and sweep away audiences, submerging them in the universe of the cosmos.

Tussauds London Planetarium, part of Madame Tussauds interactive celebrity experience, is one of the most visited attractions in Europe. “We are very excited about the projection solution to open up a whole new era of experience for our various audiences and for our work with education,” said Teresa Grafton, Planetarium Education Officer. “Tussauds will now be able to give, beside the look at human stars, the best look at the stars in heaven. The audience will now experience a full dome digital entertainment journey through heaven.”
