Case study
Building on their experience with high-end videoconferencing and visual display systems, Barco and Belgacom joined forces to develop a collaborative meeting and videoconferencing configuration: the Belgacom Integrated Videocommunication (BIV) system. It combines state-of-the-art visual-display technology (a Barco speciality) and all-round connectivity (a Belgacom speciality) into a comprehensive system, seamlessly integrating IT and audiovisual technologies. This ‘BIV’ configuration is a first in Europe.
The BIV system Barco provides the intelligent rear projection system projecting on a proprietary developed large screen, and the integrated server ensuring a seamless interaction beteween the various functionalities (such as videoconferencing, file-sharing, whiteboarding, live TV and Internet). Belgacom acts as integrator and takes care of network connectivity. The BIV system can easily connect to a broad mix of networks, such as ISDN, IP-VPN, ADSL and SDSL.
In the Belgacom head office in Brussels, Barco equipped the main meeting room with iCon and iQ Pro projectors to show product demos and general sales presentations to customers. Thanks to the built-in server, the projectors could be easily connected to the Belgacom network infrastructure. Belgacom can now organize collaborative meetings between remote meeting sites, including file sharing, real time interaction with Belgacom telepro boutiques enhancing meeting efficiency, and Remote control & diagnostics over the network resulting in lower operation cost.
For its auditorium, Belgacom chose an RLM R6+ Performer projector, offering high brightness projection at a low noise level, used for new product announcements, press conferences and sales meetings.
