American Electric Power (AEP)
Case study
Barco helps AEP drive the safety and reliability of its energy services
In 2003, over 55 million Americans and Canadians were affected by a widespread power outage – the Northeast Blackout. In its aftermath, all energy suppliers in the US and Canada thoroughly reviewed every single aspect of their dispatching operations. American Electric Power (AEP), one of the US' largest energy utilities, decided to design and build a state-of-the-art center to meet the needs of its transmission operations staff.
Impressed with the high quality of Barco's rear-projection video walls and accompanying software, AEP stepped up its investment in visualization and chose Barco video walls to offer operators a dynamic, real-time overview of its transmission activities.
