Upgrade at American Airlines

Case study

American Airlines logs many hours a day on its MD-82 and 767-200 flight simulators. When it was time to replace the 25” CRTs for its WAC windows, the company had to find a solution for its obsolete monitor visual systems or lose its FAA certification. American Airlines chose the Barco Monitor Replacement Projector (MRP) solution because of the many features and benefits. Barco upgraded the company’s 4-window, 3-channel systems with its raster/calligraphic MRPs. This enabled the company to extend the life of its older systems and meet FAA Level-D certification, while increasing the resolution of its visual systems.
