Five-star Fenerbahçe stadium teams up with leading player in display technology
On 20 May 2009, football clubs Shaktar Donetsk (Ukraine) and Werder Bremen (Germany) faced each other in the 2009 UEFA Cup Final, UEFA's second tier club football tournament. The match was hosted by the Turkish Football Federation at the Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium in Istanbul, home ground of Turkey's popular Fenerbahçe football club and one of Europe's top-rated soccer arenas.
An estimated 80 million people in 63 countries watched the match on TV and many Ukrainian, German and Turkish football fans had descended to the stadium. They were treated to a blood-curling match – won by the Ukrainians – and enjoyed a new viewing experience as, shortly before the game, Fenerbahçe had installed two high-quality, Barco LED displays.
