NovaDutra chooses Barco for Brazilian highway Operational Control Center
Kuurne, Belgium, 18 July 2006 - Barco, leader in solutions of visualization and image technology, was chosen to supply the new video wall system CCO (Operational Control Center) of Presidente Dutra Highway in Brazil.
The Presidente Dutra highway, connecting the metropolitan areas of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, is the principal highway of the country. The highway was originally built 55 years ago, and today has a modern and complete support structure and 400 km of fiber optics (the total distance of the highway), which guarantees the operational network and ensures rapid support to the road users with 24h medical assistance. To monitor traffic operations efficiently, Novadutra built a new and modern Control Center of Operations (CCO), and chose Barco to provide the visualization solution. Novadutra is part of the CCR Group, Company of Road Concessionaires. The CCO was created through the consortium's engineering subsidiary Engelog.
Comprising of 18 modules of 67” (3x6), the Barco display wall shows multiple camera views simultaneously or a single image up to 20m2, which enables all images of the highway be monitored in real time, 24 hours a day. The quantity of simultaneous cameras can be easily expanded as required.
This is the first Barco visualization system with video streaming decoding installed in Latin America for traffic monitoring. Integrated into the graphical controller, the video streaming solution retains the digital quality of the video images, without reconverting them to analog. The system thereby offers optimum resolution quality for big images, more flexibility, operational advantages, less cabling and therefore less maintenance and easier upgrades through the possibility of different display walls becoming integrated in the future.
Carl Peeters, President of Barco Control Rooms stated, “We are especially pleased with this installation as it marks an important step forward within the Streaming Video evolution in Latin America and we think this is both significant and important. We look forward to more successes in this region with this technology”.
Barco visualization solutions are developed for 24/7 operation focused on quality, durability and easy software integration. All components are developed and manufactured by Barco, specifically for Control Rooms. They offer low operating costs, through redundancy and low consumption of lamps, maximum reliability and perfect visualization of monitored applications, in real time, 24 hours a day.
