The official inauguration of the system took place on 11 September 2006. KORTRIJK, BELGIUM, 25 October 2006 – Barco, together with Fabricom GTI, has been selected to install a high-performance Vessel Traffic Services (VTS) system, including new radars, for the port of Antwerp. This large-scale port project, which was commissioned by the Flemish Agency for Maritime Services and Coast, Shipping Assistance Division and by the port of Antwerp, has a total contract value of 4.2 million euro. Barco's component-based VTS technology will offer Antwerp's VTS operators an innovative and reliable traffic control system and will significantly enhance the safety at Europe's second largest port.

KORTRIJK, Belgium, 12 July, 2006 – Barco, Fabricom GTI and Tein Telecom are proud to announce that the new Maritime Rescue and Coordination Center (MRCC) in Ostend has officially been inaugurated. The MRCC, which is now fully operational, is the first registration point for accidents at sea along the Belgian coast. The center was commissioned by the Shipping Assistance Division of the Flemish Government and was realized within budget and forecasted planning by a multi-disciplinary consortium of the three above-mentioned companies. The official opening ceremony was attended by Kris Peeters, Flemish Minister for Public Works, Energy, the Environment and Nature, and Renaat Landuyt, Federal Minister of Transport and the North Sea.

Barco's advanced visualization technology will bring a new level of security to Portuguese shores and coastal waters KORTRIJK, BELGIUM, 5 October 2005 – Visualization specialist Barco has been awarded a multi-million euro contract by EADS, Munich, Germany to deliver software and services for a new, large-scale Vessel Traffic Control System (VTCS) in Portugal. The new system will allow the country to reliably monitor its maritime traffic, protect the outer borders of its mainland, and improve the maritime safety and environmental protection of its coastal waters. Barco's deliveries are part of a large-scale project carried out by an international consortium led by EADS. First deliveries are scheduled for mid-2006.

KORTRIJK, BELGIUM, 11 May 2005 – Visualization specialist Barco has won a contract from the Shipping Assistance Division of the Ministry of the Flemish Community to install a state-of-the-art Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) system along the Ghent-Terneuzen canal. The new system will replace the existing monitoring system at Zelzate Bridge, which is approaching end-of-life. Featuring the latest in VTS technology, the new control center will provide a detailed, integrated image of all ship movements on the canal, including the Port of Ghent. The contract marks a new step for Barco into the Vessel Traffic Service market. Earlier this year, the company also won a contract to supply advanced visualization technology for the new Maritime Rescue and Co-ordination Centre in Ostend.

Orthogon Assists EADS in Implementing a New Coastal Surveillance System for Estonia

The EADS Systems & Defence Electronics business unit has been awarded a contract in July 2002 to implement an advanced coastal protection system by the Estonian Ministry of the Interior.
