Barco showcases virtual reality center at WIRED NextFest

San Francisco – Visit Barco’s virtual reality center at the WIRED NextFest and enter into a virtual three-dimensional world.

Barco Simulation (Xenia, Ohio USA), a leader in visual display technology, is showcasing its virtual reality analysis and decision center May 14 - 16 in San Francisco at the WIRED NextFest held in the Festival Pavilion, Fort Mason Center.
The Barco virtual reality center consists of a 270-degree rigid, cylindrical projection screen that wraps around and immerses the viewers in a computer-generated, 3-dimensional world. Three Barco Galaxy stereo DLP projectors digitally warp and blend images to create a seamless panoramic picture on the curved screen. Viewers wear electronic LCD shutter glasses to experience a virtual environment with endless boundaries and objects floating in space created by Digital Artforms’ 3D interactive software.

This immersive visualization environment is used as a media facility in various industries including research institutes, commercial organizations, and DoD Homeland Security. The systems are designed to support various business processes, such as data analysis, design and modeling, training, planning, and presentation. Barco’s visual display systems are known for their unsurpassed image quality, capabilities, and unique visualization experiences.

Barco will also debut an ad in the May issue of WIRED Magazine. The ad will highlight Barco’s new VCAD (Virtual Collaboration, Analysis & Decision) system, the world’s first integrated software and hardware visualization solution for Homeland and National Security. This revolutionary tool is specially designed for visualizing, analyzing, and interacting with multifaceted data. It can simultaneously display various types of large data sets on multiple displays and graphically render key relationships in stereo 3D. Additional information can be displayed on the large LCD panels and monitors on both side wings. Thanks to near-real-time, simultaneous access to the current common picture, the VCAD system allows simultaneous collaboration with other sites. Other applications include military planning, network and cyber security, commercial demographic/market analysis, web mapping and file system analysis, immersive training and simulation, and any application requiring the visualization of complex data sets or vast amounts of information.
