BARCO ACQUIRES ASSETS OF GERMAN COMPANY TAN
BARCO strengthens its position in the Virtual & Augmented Reality market
Kortrijk, August 8, 2002. BARCO has signed a contract today with TAN Projektionstechnologie GmbH & Co.KG and TAN AG, based in Düsseldorf, Germany and Marin, Switzerland, which will further strengthen BARCO’s market position in Virtual & Augmented Reality. Once a pioneer in this market, today TAN is a renowned player, in Germany as well as internationally. Through this contract with TAN, BARCO incorporates the existing customer base of TAN, its current orders and projects, besides technological and market know how and an experienced team of system engineers, system integrators, sales and support people.
From the very beginning, Germany has been playing a key role in the development and growth of the Virtual and Augmented Reality market, and has therefore always been considered as a worldwide reference. By its growing presence in Germany, BARCO reinforces its commitment and contribution to the Virtual & Augmented Reality market.
The important increase in the system engineer team, the system integrators and sales & support team, creates new synergies at BARCO. This will enable BARCO to expand and improve its services and support to both TAN and BARCO customers. It is clear that this contract with TAN is fully in line with the evolution of the BARCO V&AR group towards a larger involvement in system activities. Since Virtual & Augmented Reality is a growing market still today, the contract with TAN also enlarges the share of BARCO in these markets, thus further strengthening the leading position BARCO already has today.
