Barco partners with SGI at International Motor Show in Stockholm to show high-end visualization system
Barco’s transportable CADWall™ provides a breathtaking experience for all visitors of Bilsalongen, the largest automotive show in Scandinavia
Kuurne, Belgium - April 8, 2003 - At this year’s International Motor Show in Stockholm, taking place from April 3 until April 13 - Barco is partnering with SGI to demonstrate its 2-channel passive stereo ultra resolution CADWall™ solution, which will be powered by an SGI® Onyx® 300 visualization system. Barco’s transportable CADWall™ is a self-supportive freestanding projection wall with a large flat screen, big enough to project a full-scale car in stereo with exceptional image quality.
The highlight of this year’s Motor Show will be “Design, Colour and Shape”. Design has always been important and used as a competition tool by car manufacturers. Barco’s V&AR projection solutions play a very important role in the entire process of developing a new car. Virtual reality makes it possible to see and manipulate a product as if it really existed. It can be used, broken, repaired and tested to the limits of its structure integrity. Cars can be developed quicker, better and with higher efficiency, without requiring the expensive production of a physical prototype. Using Barco’s V&AR shortens the design cycle and reduces production costs considerably.
During the show, Saab, Volvo, Tesco and Lamborghini will demonstrate the use of advanced visualisation in the design process for new cars on Barco’s two-channel, high-resolution transportable CADWall™.
The largest automotive show in Scandinavia, Bilsalongen is held every three years and it attracts a range of luminaries from the industry.
