Four tips to get the most out of your medical displays
To ensure optimum peace of mind, Barco diagnostic displays come standard with a five-year warranty, providing repair or replacement in case of a hiccup. There are however a few practical things you can do yourself to keep your display systems in good shape for many years. These four simple tips will take you a long way.
Tip 1: Activate the Display Power Management System
Activate the Display Power Management System (DPMS) of your display. This will optimize the diagnostic lifetime of your monitor by automatically switching off the backlight when the display is not used for a certain period of time. By default, DPMS is enabled on your Barco display, but it also needs to be activated on your workstation. To do this, go to "Power Options Properties" in the "Control Panel".
We recommend setting DPMS activation after 20 minutes of non-usage.
Tip 2: Use a screen saver
Displaying the same content on the same screen area for a long time may result in a form of image retention. You can avoid or significantly reduce this phenomenon by using a screen saver. To activate a screen saver, go to the "Display properties" window of your workstation.
We recommend setting screen saver activation after 5 minutes of non-usage.
Tip 3: Enhance user comfort
Every Barco multi-head display system is color matched with maximum precision before it leaves the factory. To ensure color consistency during operation, it is important to always keep these color-matched displays together.
Moreover, we recommend using all displays of a multi-head configuration at the same rate to preserve color matching throughout the economic lifetime of the system.
Tip 4: Take the full benefit of central Quality Assurance
Five-year warranty: more than a promise
Since the introduction of the first LCD-based Coronis display system more than six years ago, Barco's diagnostic solutions have earned a reputation for reliability in radiology reading rooms around the world. Today, Barco offers a five-year warranty on its full range of color and grayscale diagnostic display systems. Unlike most other vendors, Barco also covers the Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) panels and the backlight lamps during the economic lifetime of your display, provided that they are used at the Factory Calibrated Luminance level.
Barco is the first vendor to offer this level of warranty on its full PACS display offering, including 2MP, 3MP, 4MP, 5MP and 6MP systems, in grayscale as well as color.

Today's Quality Assurance technology offers a powerful means to preserve the diagnostic precision of your display system for a long time. Barco has developed an all-inclusive, on line system that heralds a new approach to central Quality Assurance. This unique MediCal QAWeb system offers a full array of software as well as hardware services for medical displays. It is your guarantee for long-term peace of mind.
