Barco’s single-click presentation and collaboration system, ClickShare, took top honors at the 2013 Edison Awards, which honors innovators for excellence in product development. Dave Fitzgerald, Channel Director NA, accepted the award at the annual Awards Ceremony & Gala Dinner in Chicago, Illinois while also presenting ClickShare to hundreds of executives attending the Innovators’ Showcase.

Europe is currently counting down to one of the most watched non-sporting TV events of the year – the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC). Within exactly one week, 39 countries will start competing to win the 58th edition in Malmö, Sweden. And Barco may well be just as excited as the singers are: no fewer than 60 Barco projectors, including 28 high-brightness HDQ-2K40 projectors, will be used to create an astonishing stage. Last Tuesday and Wednesday, we attended the Middle Eastern edition for the first time ever. From 23 to 25 April last, Kino 2013 attracted exhibitors, distributors and service providers from across Europe to Baden-Baden, Germany, for a three-day immersion into the world of cinema anno 2013. While Barco’s digital cinema solutions were showcased at partner booths, Marc Aarts, Barco’s sales director DC Western Europe, and Wilfried van Baelen, CEO Galaxy Studios, participated in well-attended panel discussions. “Our participation was most interesting,” Marc Aarts concluded.

In April, Barco partnered with Rockwell Automation for the Automation University event in Paris and the Value Forum event in Dubai. These events consisted of a wide range of seminars, presentations and hands-on workshops on the latest developments in automation and information technology. Barco was present on the show floor at both events.

Barco proudly announces that its President and CEO, Eric Van Zele, added a new award to his list of achievements. Last night, two years after Barco won the award for Belgian ICT Company of the Year, Eric won the title of ICT Personality of the Year at the Data News Awards for Excellence ceremony - the most prestigious ICT event of the year - in Brussels.

To the delight of automobile aficionados and casual car fans alike, dozens of new cars were revealed at the 2013 Montreal and Toronto Auto Shows this winter, featuring dramatic video displays using Barco’s HDQ-2K40 projectors. Barco’s highest lumen projectors made their Canadian debut at the Toronto and Montreal auto shows this year, provided by rental and staging company MVI-MultiVision, Inc. to dramatically present the automakers’ newest releases.
