Brazilian PUC-Rio university visualizes data with help of Barco

Easy and clear data visualization is essential to Tecgraf, the Computer Graphics Research and Development Lab of the PUC-Rio University (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil). To gain thorough insights into various computer graphics, it installed a three-sided iSpace featuring three Barco Galaxy NH-12 projectors and one ultra-high resolution LX-5 projector.

 

“Our solutions are based on complex mathematical models, numerical simulations and 3-D interactive graphical displays,” said Luciano Soares, senior researcher at Tecgraf. “An up-to-date and high-quality visualization solution is key to helping us deliver these models.”

Barco’s iSpace allows Tecgraf to display sources in multiple windows that can be resized, dragged and made to overlap anywhere on the screen. The projectors were installed in such a way that they can be used in combination with one single Barco XDS-1000 display controller. Thanks to this feature, the image displayed by all three projectors is perfectly aligned, leading to one single, uniform image.

Tecgraf is a happy Barco user: “The system is easy to use and operate,” Soares concluded. “And the Barco support has been and still is excellent.”
