Every year at the Integrated Systems Europe trade show, the InAVation Awards recognize all that is excellent and innovative in EMEA's AV market. This year, InAVate magazine honored dZine's DISplayer³ Eco with the award for 'Most InAVative Digital Signage Product’and Barco's ClickShare with the award for 'Most InAVative Unified Communications or Collaboration Product’.

When the Warsaw Municipal Guard made plans to install a video wall in its new headquarters, it was impressed with the product offering of Barco. The quality, reliability and low maintenance costs of Barco’s OL-510 LED-lit video wall was beyond compare. Set up back in November 2011, the OverView OL-510 wall (2x2 set-up) now helps operators monitor live video feed in high quality, reliably, 24/7, thus keeping the city safe.

Barco is treating visitors to ISE at the Amsterdam RAI to a premiere: a brand-new booth built around the theme of the smart city. The Barco city, which was opened just minutes ago, features an impressive number of smart systems, which are all networked to let the world collaborate and monitor better – in meeting and control rooms, at events, in advertising, etc.

Barco has worked hard on three new features to make its popular ClickShare meeting room presentation system even more intuitive than it is today, while further raising meeting productivity. From this spring onwards, ClickShare will come complete with dual-display functionality, be iPad compatible and integrate audio. The new release will be demonstrated at this week’s ISE trade fair in Amsterdam.

Immerse youngsters from poor Rio de Janeiro communities into the world of projection, thus giving them job opportunities to escape poverty: that is the objective of the ‘5 Views Technical Formation in Audivisual’ social inclusion project set up in Brazil. Barco has been supporting the 2011 edition by providing classes about digital cinema projection and supplying a Barco DP2K-20C digital cinema projector. The Projectionist Course has now received the ‘Creative Economy Award’ from the Brazilian Ministry of Culture.

On 30 November 2012, Barco hosted a ‘Cinema of the future seminar’ at its headquarters in Kortrijk. As a digital cinema technology leader, Barco is committed to shape the cinema of the future and the moviegoing experience. Together with several industry partners (Kinepolis, FilmAngel and Small Town Heroes) and research groups (iMinds SMIT, iLab.o, MICT and Multimedia Lab), Barco set up the research project ‘iCinema’ to explore the opportunities for creating an interactive cinema experience via second-screen applications and new media formats. During the seminar, attendees got a preview of how the future cinema experience could look like via several interactive demos.

The King Fahad Medical City (KFMC) hospital in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia has ordered 140 Barco JAO Smart Terminals for patient bedside applications. The new terminals, which will be showcased at the upcoming Arab Health trade show, will help the hospital enhance the productivity of its healthcare workers while, at the same time, improving patient well-being and comfort.
