HDR Tone Mapping

More and more movies and TV shows are delivered in HDR and not all displays are optimized to show HDR content. That means HDR content must be adapted to the display before viewing. In projectors and other displays with limited brightness, the adaption requires processing. As the content in movies already are edited for optimal viewing, the display adaption process is aimed to preserve the movie director’s intent to the extent possible.

Barco Residential is always true to the director’s intent as picture quality is in the driving seat in any of our projectors.

Cinemascope

Barco is the only manufacturer in the world that offer true CinemaScope projectors for the residential market. Our CinemaScope technology have a unique automatic aspect ratio detection function.

It will analyze the incoming source and detect the aspect ratio which we call "Content Aspect Ratio" and automatically scale the image to fit the 2560x1080 or 5120x2160 resolution depending on model and of course change back to 16:9 (1920x1080/3840x2160 depending on model) if you have content in that format.

It will also change aspect ratio when a scope format movie has a menu’s outside the active picture frame. You can also switch manually between the different formats. It also allows for manually setting the aspect ratio you would like to use.

Why is ANSI Contrast so important?

The easiest way to explain why ANSI contrast is the better way to measure how good the contrast is for a projector, ANSI contrast refers to the difference between black and white when they coexist in the image. In other words very different from setting up a black image, measure, setting up a white image, measure and divide the result on white with the result on black. ANSI you are measuring black and white in the same image together.

DynaBlack

DynaBlack is Barco’s new frame by frame contrast enhancement feature. DynaBlack analyzes every frame on the fly and distinguish dark scenes from bright scenes.
With ultra-fast processing and laser pulsing the projector can increase the overall dynamic range by making darker scene’s darker and brighter scenes brighter, which is crucial in today’s projectors, especially with HDR Content

Barco Pulse

The Barco Pulse Projector Software Platform won the award in the Residential audio/video category.  Pulse is the Barco's hardware and software platform inside our projectors. Every new product will use the core from Pulse, meaning the user experience for a customer will be the same every time.

The platform allows remote troubleshooting of all supported products. You can upgrade the product to a deep level with new features, functionality or improved picture quality and the web interface gives the integrator access to the projector from any device remotely.

Latency

Latency is the delay between a frame change on the source side until the same frame shows on the screen side, often referred to in computer terms as the total round trip time it takes for a data packet to travel. Latency is generally measured in milliseconds (ms) and is unavoidable due to the  infrastructure and the processing time on the source side and the processing time on the image side.

Warp & Blend Technology

The Barco Pulse Projector Software Platform won the award in the Residential audio/video category. Pulse is the Barco's hardware and software platform inside our projectors. Every new product will use the core from Pulse, meaning the user experience for a customer will be the same every time.

The platform allows remote troubleshooting of all supported products. You can upgrade the product to a deep level with new features, functionality or improved picture quality and the web interface gives the integrator access to the projector from any device remotely.

HLD LED

Bragi and Bragi Cinemascope's Light engine is not using lamp's or lasers, it is using LED's, more correctly ColorSpark HLD LED's. Its a technology that emits four times the light of regular LED technology.

Image quality matters, because that's what lets you really immerse yourself in your movie, your concert or sport. Our ColorSpark HLD system does just that, combining high levels of LED based brightness with crisp and lively colors to bring brilliant life to the screen.

RealColor Management

Barco Residential projectors are not only accurately calibrated when they leave our factory, our color management system allows you to calibrate them, simply and precisely, to a desired white point or greyscale as well.

The system enables you to perform the necessary color management adjustments yourself to create the best visual experience in any situation.

Laser Light

The light source in an RGB laser projector, also called direct laser projectors, contains individual red, green and blue lasers.

In a laser phosphor projectors one laser is used. The majority go for only blue laser diodes. “Why blue?”....

Ultimate Color Convergence

All our three chip projectors, including Njord and all 'Cinema at home' projectors feature our patented and highly acclaimed analog color convergence mechanism.

By allowing the green and red DMD devices to be manually adjusted, perfect convergence can be achieved.

Other manufacturer do this digitally, meaning they can only adjust the DMD's one pixel at the time. Barco's patented solution can adjust each DMD 1/10 of a pixel. This attention to detail renders images sharper and more immersive than ever before.
