Innovative cinema in all its glory will be celebrated in Berlin next week at the 68th Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale). Continuing its long history of admiration and support of Berlinale, Barco is proud to serve as the exclusive projection partner for this world-renowned event.
In addition to providing the award-winning cinema Flagship Laser projector, Barco will amaze Berlinale Palast audiences with its new ultra-high contrast laser projectors, featuring a heightened level of brightness, contrast and brilliant color. Laser projectors will also power a unique cinema experience at the Friedrichstadt-Palast and Haus der Berliner Festspiele venues.
Impressing a new generation of moviegoers
“Our films need to be presented in the best possible quality. Barco laser projectors allow us to just that by visually impressing our discerning audience that ranges from international industry professionals to local film enthusiasts,” says Ove Sander, Technical Manager Digital Cinema for Berlinale.
Long-term partners in cinema innovation
Barco and the Berlinale have collaborated on bringing the latest cinema technologies to audiences since 2004, when the first digital screening occurred at the Berlinale using two Barco cinema projectors. Now, 15 years later, Berlinale continues to embrace Barco’s latest innovations to delight guests at the festival, joining with other cinema pioneers to fuel this new era of laser projection in Western Europe.
“We are honored to grow our close collaboration with Berlinale, the biggest audience film festival worldwide. Barco partnered with the festival 15 years ago to tackle the challenges of the digital era, and we are pleased to continue our journey into the future of cinema together,” comments Wim Buyens, CEO of the New Cinema Joint Venture. “As the market leader, Barco offers the broadest portfolio of best-in-class projectors, ensuring the perfect match for every screen. Moviegoers have recognized the improved image quality of our cinema Flagship Laser projectors, which captivate media-savvy millennials by delivering a ‘wow’ experience.”
