Barco MiPIX and LED displays chosen for exclusive Kylie concert.
On Saturday, 15 November 2003, Kylie Minogue launched her latest CD “Body Language” at an exclusive concert in London’s Carling Apollo Hammersmith, backed by a breath-taking design of Barco ILite 10 and MiPIX LED displays.
Kylie’s latest concert, which served to launch her new CD “Body Language”, was aptly named “Money Can’t Buy” and with no tickets being offered for sale, was strictly by invitation only. Costing 1 million Pound and featuring costumes designed by Helmut Lang, Chanel and Balenciaga, it is clear that only the best materials were used to create one of the year’s most spoken about events. Also chosen to add glitter and glam to the event were state-of-the-art Barco LED displays totalling 100 square meters, which served as backdrop to Kylie’s high energy performance.
The LED display and backdrop, supplied by Barco Rental Partner XL Video, consisted of a 20 square meter ILite 10 indoor LED display surrounded by 80 square meter of Barco’s revolutionary MiPIX LED blocks. The Barco ILite 10 indoor LED and MiPIX displays were used as one seamless display on which high resolution graphics and animations were shown throughout the show. Both displays can also be seen on the televised version of the concert, which was broadcast world-wide on Saturday, 21 November.
"We are enormously proud that our ILite indoor LED display as well as the recently launched MiPIX was chosen for Kylie’s concert,” says Barco Events Division Manager, Steve Scorse, adding: “We launched MiPIX only eight weeks ago and already it has been used by some of the world’s best-known names like Mercedes Benz and Kylie Minogue. To add to our success, MiPIX has also been awarded the “Product of the Year” award at one of the world’s biggest AV Conventions – LDI - in Las Vegas, last week.
Minogue’s one-off concert seems to have hit the right note with critics and fans alike. Opening the show with the brand new single “Still Standing”, Minogue wowed the audience with her Brigitte Bardot inspired look as she made a dramatic entrance languishing on a beam almost eight meter above the stage floor. Performing such hits as “Can’t Get You Out of My Head”, “In Your Eyes” and her brand new number one single “Slow”, Minogue’s show, in all its facets, proved to be a multi-media spectacle that will be remembered for a long time to come.
