CinemaCity brings Barco’s Laser Flagship projection to Lebanon, offering the future of premium cinema today
Kortrijk, Belgium, 12 May 2016 – Barco’s Flagship Laser projection technology is gaining a solid foothold in the Middle East. Since this February, Lebanese movie lovers have been able to enjoy the exceptional image quality of Barco’s DP4K-30L Flagship Laser projector at the PLUS+ Theater in CinemaCity’s Beirut Souks Cinema. CinemaCity is confident that the Flagship Laser technology will help deliver an unequalled movie-going experience, thereby boosting its bottom and top line.
CinemaCity, which is part of the leading World Media Holding entertainment group, made news headlines in December 2013 when it opened Lebanon’s largest cinema in Beirut Souks in downtown Beirut. The 14-screen Beirut cinema features one PLUS+ Theater, equipped with a large screen and the most advanced audiovisual technology, including Barco’s Flagship Laser projector. Committed to delivering exceptional audience experiences, CinemaCity expressed its interest in Barco’s Flagship Laser projectors in 2015 already. It is delighted to now introduce Lebanon to the power of laser projection.
A fantastic experience, higher revenues
The DP4K-30L projector installed at the Beirut PLUS+ Theater is one of Barco’s four premium Flagship Laser models. Ranging from 20,000 up to 56,000 lumens light output, Flagship Laser projectors ensure game-changing image quality, unprecedented brightness levels and an enhanced contrast ratio with vivid colors for the ultimate viewing experiences . Thanks to their exceptional image quality, they help cinema exhibitors attract more people to their theaters, at premium ticket prices, thus boosting theater revenues.
Gaining ground in the Middle East
“Everything about our cinemas is designed for the enjoyment of our guests. By fitting the Flagship Laser projector into our PLUS+ Theater we’re again raising the bar for entertainment here in Lebanon,” says Maya Kfouri, Marketing Manager at CinemaCity. In April 2015, CinemaCity announced plans to equip two of its nine theaters at the future Abdali Mall in Amman, Jordan – to open later this year – with Barco Flagship Laser projectors.
“We are very pleased to help CinemaCity offer the future of premium cinema today,” comments Stijn Henderickx, Vice President Cinema for Barco. “We foresee that they will reap the benefits of their investment in Barco Flagship laser projector. In fact, a recent survey indicates that the majority of moviegoers gives the image quality of Flagship Laser projection a score of 5/5, that over two thirds of respondents states they would go to the cinema more often, and that over 75% is prepared to pay a higher ticket price for a movie screened with Flagship Laser.”
