Cinesystem Cinemas expands digital cinema footprint in Brazil with Barco projectors
Exhibitor doubles investment in Barco DLP Cinema® projectors, plans to upgrade 100% of theater circuit to Barco projectors
Rancho Cordova, Calif., USA – 23 April 2013 – Barco, a global leader in digital cinema technology, is expanding its relationship with Cinesystem Cinemas to supply additional digital cinema projectors to complete the exhibitor’s deployment. This recent influx will enable the Brazilian movie chain to keep pace with an increasingly young and growing moviegoing public by elevating the quality of cinema entertainment in the region.
As cinema owners in Latin America continue to rapidly embrace digital cinema technologies to upgrade and expand their theaters, local service and support – as well as total cost of ownership – are key factors in their projector decision. To complete its digital cinema deployment, Cinesystem Cinemas looked to Barco as the clear choice to fulfill both objectives, while also enjoying unrivalled image quality and reliability.
Top-notch local service and support
“What really distinguishes Barco is their absolute dedication to customer service and support, which is unmatched in the industry. Their responsiveness to our needs has been outstanding and their technicians are highly knowledgeable,” comments Marcos Barros, CEO of Cinesystem Cinemas. “We are excited to grow our relationship with Barco because they truly take care of our needs.”
Barco will provide 24/7/365 onsite technical support through local service teams, with parts conveniently available from eight parts depots in Latin America. In addition, Barco’s installation and advanced service certification training is available in Sao Paulo, Brazil; Mexico City, Mexico; and Sacramento, California.
A customized approach ensures lowest total cost of ownership
“Barco is also a very sound, economical investment. Because of their diverse product line, we can match the right projector to every screen size, giving us more brightness for the money. Other factors, such as reusable metal filters and modularity for easy parts replacement or exchange, significantly lower the total cost of ownership as well.”
Cinesystem is planning to install nearly every model of digital cinema projector made by Barco, from the compact DP2K-10Sx with integrated media server and redundant storage, to the ultra-bright Enhanced 4K DP4K-32B for their largest movie screens.
“We are honored that Cinesystem has chosen Barco to complete its digital cinema deployment to offer patrons a special moviegoing experience, while keeping a keen eye on their bottom line,” comments Ney Corsino, Vice President for Barco Latin America. “Our local network of technicians and customer service reps looks forward to supporting their needs for the long term.”
Cinesystem is the fastest growing movie chain in Brazil due to an aggressive expansion plan started in 2003. The company operates 79 screens in six states in Brazil, including the south, southeast and northeast regions. By the end of 2013, Cinesystem will also open new complexes in Imperatriz (MA), Maceió and Arapiraca (AL), Vila Velha (ES) and Rio Grande (RS).
Being a pioneer is one of strongest Cinesystem’s trademarks. Cinesystem was the first exhibitor in Brazil to deploy 100% digital complexes. Recently Cinesystem innovated again being the first one to bring to Brazil the self-service concept at its concessions stores, using touch screen monitors at the servicing stations where customers decide their purchases and make all the payments.
