EGA Cinema (India) treats audience to Auro 11.1 experience by Barco

Chennai, India, 26 February, 2014 – Auro 11.1, the revolutionary sound installation by visualization solution leader Barco, continues its rise in India’s thriving cinema industry. Anu Ega, one of the theatres in the EGA Cinema multiplex in Chennai City also chose to engage with its audience in natural, immersive sound.

Throughout its existence, the now 30-year-old EGA cinema house has always been committed to providing its visitors with a premium movie going experience. Whether it’s the comfort provided by each of the 246 seats in the re-furbished auditorium, the ample parking space, the available food or the crisp, clear images projected on the screen by a Barco projector: the EGA staff is constantly catering to the latest needs of the local movie aficionados.

Pictures and sound
With the introduction of Auro 11.1, ANU EGA too, now has this unmatched, hyper-realistic sound experience to further differentiate itself from the flock of local multiplexes. “We have been using Barco’s DP2K-23B and DP2K-12C projectors for quite some time now, so we already had an idea of what we could expect in terms of product quality and customer service” says Mr. C Sunanadan, Co-owner at EGA Cinema. “With Auro 11.1, we are able to add to those mesmerizing images the feeling of sound travelling right around the auditorium. In this way, we can create a truly immersive experience for our audiences – one that will persuade them to come back to EGA real soon.”

Sound solution
And there’s ample reason to believe that this will indeed be the case. “Bookings for Auro 11.1 halls are much higher than the halls equipped with standard 5.1 sound installations,” says Abel Garamhegyi, Managing Director for Barco India. “Thanks to this premium acoustic experience, made possible by adding a height and overhead layer, theater owners can now maximize their revenues. On top of that, the system is compatible with almost every other system and can be integrated without cancelling shows, thus ensuring a cost-effective solution.”

The Auro 11.1 by Barco sound system was installed at ANU EGA Cinema by M/s G.M. Audio one of Barco’s highly capable and very experienced System Integrator for Auro 11.1 by Barco. Many attendees were introduced to the immersive capabilities of sound for the first time that night and were left astonished.
