Application error (0xc0000005) - ClickShare Button client has stopped working

Issue:

We have had reports on the firmware version 01.06.01.02 and higher where the ClickShare Client stopped working or the launcher gets an application error on startup due to a Windows Defender Security Center Exploit setting.




Application error.
The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000005)

Solution:

This issue is solved in the ClickShare Present (CS and CSE) Base Unit firmware version 1.10 or higher.

The actions suggested here has been successful in most cases, but cannot be guaranteed that they will solve the problem in every case.
This is a general error code of Windows OS and it doesn’t point to a specific cause of it.
Info! In case the issue is not resolved we will require a Windows process dump file to be collected from the system to analyze the problem. Please provide this dump file to the helpdesk during the service request.

Mitigation

Check if "Force randomization for images (Mandatory ASLR)" is turned on in the Windows Defender Security Center.

If this is turned On, change the option back to "Use default (Off)" (restart required).
