Touchback, blackboarding and annotation functionality with my ClickShare

Article number: [5932] - Legacy code: [4998]

Applicable to

Touchback:

Touchback allows presenters to control any application on their laptop via the touch screen in the room, instead of using the computer mouse. With this advanced feature, ClickShare adds energy to meetings and leads the way to more innovative methods of collaboration.

How can I use the touchback functionality:

  • Tap once to control your laptop instead of using the computer mouse.
  • To right-click, the touchscreen needs to be pressed for about 2-3 seconds long.
  • Touchback can be enabled/disabled by touching the icon on the bottom right on the meeting room display.

What do I need to do to use Touchback:

  • CSE-200(+)/800: Base unit needs to have at least firmware version 1.06 with Button having successfully paired (how to: see KB 5924)  and updated with the corresponding Base Unit
  • This feature can only be used when only one Button is sharing and requires a Button with article number R9861500D01, R9861500D01C (USB-C Button) or R9861600D01C
  • List of supported touchscreen:
    • CX-30/50(Gen2) and C-10: see supported peripherals overview page on the Barco website.
    • CSE-200(+)/800: See the download file ClickShare Supported Touch Panels Whitepaper attached to this article.

Blackboarding and annotation:

  • Blackboarding allows you to use the meeting room’s touchscreen as a writing board to write or sketch.
  • Annotation gives you the option to add comments directly on presented content via the meeting room’s
    touchscreen

The Blackboarding and annotation functionality can only be used when an interactive flat panel (touchscreen) is connected through USB and HDMI™ output of the Base Unit.

Saving blackboarding and annotation PDF files:

The annotation and blackboarding PDF files can be saved to 2 different locations using either of the following ways:

  1. ClickShare Button plugged in to the computer and connected to CSE Base Unit
    • C:\Users\username\Documents\Clickshare_downloads\ folder on Windows
    •  /Users/username/Documents/Clickshare_downloads/ folder  on Mac
  2. To the root of a USB stick (FAT32 formatted) that has been plugged into the Base Unit

If both are connected at the same time, the annotation will be saved to all.
In order for the annotation to be saved, there needs to be at least one of the above connected.

Note: To allow saving the annotation PDF file, make sure to enable option Allow saving annotations to connected clients and USB sticks in the ClickShare Configurator (go to: System > Blackboard) of the Base Unit.

Info! For more detailed information about touchback, blackboarding and annotation functionality with your ClickShare Base Unit, refer to the related topics in the corresponding ClickShare Base Unit manuals on the Barco website (how to: see KB 9362).

Good to know:

  • Only supported on the ClickShare CSE-200, CSE-200+, CSE-800, CX-30, CX-50 and C-10.
  • The best performance is achieved by sharing without audio.
  •  When sharing the extended desktop, a small lag might be observed.
  • Native touchscreen functionalities cannot be used in combination with Touchback/ClickShare. Ideally, they need to be disabled.
  • When 2 displays are connected to the CSE-800 Base Unit, both display resolution settings need to be the same to be able to use Touchback.
  • When connecting a 1920x1200 display to a CSE-200, the display needs to be configured to 1080p otherwise you will have an offset.
  • To avoid problems and ensure correct button configuration, re-pair the ClickShare Button after making the touch USB connection between the touch display and the ClickShare Base Unit.
  • Refer to the video tutorials (available on Barco YouTube channel) demonstrating touchback, blackboarding and annotation functionality. Few examples are listed below:
