Large-sized, bright studio backdrops to impress TV spectators

Skai TV, part of the large Skai media group and one of Greece’s biggest private broadcasters, is a fan of Barco technology. Some years ago, Skai TV equipped its studio with a 12x2 OV-video wall, driven by Barco’s Encore processor. The broadcaster was so satisfied with the equipment and the support given by Barco and integrator Telmaco, that it turned to the same team to equip its second television studio, a few years later.

Mr. Nick Millas, Technical Manager: “The video wall set-up from Barco has been dominating our major TV studio since our inauguration eight years ago. Recently, Telmaco’s technical team explained the benefits of the Barco’s LED technology. Without any second thoughts we organized the migration.”

Bright images, unequalled ease-of-maintenance
The 70" LED-lit OVL-715 video wall, in a 5x2 configuration, that Telmaco set up meets or even exceeds all Skai’s expectations. Everyone loves the bright, high-resolution images (SXGA+), the exceptional redundancy and the ease-of-maintenance of the OVL-modules. The operators, for their part, are particularly happy with the intuitiveness and rich features of the Encore processors. Moreover, the LED-lit walls help Skai TV save on maintenance costs, as there are no more lamps to buy or replace.

As the feedback on the new wall was so positive, Skai TV more recently replaced the existing OV-video wall by the LED-lit OverView alternative too. The upgrade was executed successfully by Telmaco over a weekend, with minimal disruption to the broadcasting schedule. Barco’s LED leasing program helped Skai TV overcome possible financial issues.

Everybody is jealous
The result? Barco’s new LED-lit walls perfectly underscore the image of Skai TV as a frontrunner. The video wall is an eye-catching backdrop during every TV show, thus boosting the broadcaster’s image. "Today, everybody in the Greek television industry is jealous about the result,” Nick Millas adds. “My expectations have been fulfilled, thanks to the professional technical team.”
