To welcome the BRICS Summit, the landmark ‘Egret Goddess’ sculpture − set in a small lake in Xiamen’s Egret Island Park − was the centerpiece of a spectacular lighting show that presented multiple facets of regional and world cultures.
The gorgeous visual display was another masterpiece created by Barco’s UDX series laser phosphor large venue projectors.
Exquisite images on a variety of backgrounds
Thirteen Barco UDX-4K32 projectors were used to achieve the lighting show’s visual effects on the marble sculpture. The UDX-4K32 uses 3-chip DLP® technology, Barco Pulse (‘Vibrant Pulse’) image processing technology, and a high-contrast optical engine.
With brightness levels up to 31,000 lumens, and 4K UHD resolution, the projector presents exquisite images, with the additional ability to project on an irregular surface or highlighted background and to produce a gauze effect. Without compromising on brightness, the UDX’s color quality matches the renowned Xenon quality and outperforms the Rec. 709 color space. In addition, the Constant Light Output (CLO) functionality provides constant brightness and color over time, ensuring the success of every performance.
Compact size offers more possibilities
The event organizers chose Barco’s UDX series projectors because the on-site installation conditions for the lighting show posed several logistical challenges. Egret Island Park, where the Egret Goddess sculpture is situated, is a platform surrounded by water in Yundang Lake, with varying asymmetrical distances from the platform to the lakeside.
The Barco UDX is a compact projector with a laser solid-state light source that can be installed in any orientation. So, the implementation team benefitted from flexibility in placing multiple projectors at precise installation positions and angles. The result can be seen in the breathtakingly beautiful lighting display effects.
