Great news! The Demetra team has been awarded the Henry van de Velde ‘Business Innovation’ Gold Award 2020 for its revolutionary skin imaging platform.

Henry van de Velde was a Belgian painter, designer and architect who was active from the end of the 19th century until the 1950s. The Henry van de Velde Awards are the oldest, most prestigious design recognitions in Belgium and have been awarded to designers, organizations and companies since 1994.

This year, 304 projects were submitted in 8 categories, which is 50 more compared to 2019. Demetra had already been nominated as one of the three winners in the ‘Business Innovation’ category, and was proclaimed as final winner of the Business Innovation Gold Award at the closing ceremony on 22 January 2020 at BOZAR Centre of Fine Arts in Brussels.

The award is a warm accolade after an impressive itinerary of research and development in cooperation with leading dermatologists. Demetra’s design was co-developed with the leading integrated product innovation company Verhaert. Along with enthusiastic reactions from the field, it’s another sign that the groundbreaking dermatology solution’s future is looking bright.

Jana De Cock, Demetra product manager, reacts to the win: “During the development of Demetra, we put a lot of effort in the user-friendliness of our solution, and in the fit with the doctor’s workflow. We used an iterative user-centered approach to get every detail right. Many dermatologists are truly enthusiastic about the result: a portable, wireless and ergonomic dermatoscope with a nice-looking design. We are grateful that we now also received this recognition from the experts of the Henry van de Velde jury.”
