Audio stops on laptop when plugging in the ClickShare Button

Applicable to

When playing audio from a laptop and connecting a ClickShare Button, the audio stops working. The reason is that the Button recognizes a USB speaker device (when audio is enabled in the Base Unit).

If you have set the ClickShare speaker/ClickShare room speaker as default in the past, the computer will remember what your setting was in the past. The ClickShare speaker/ClickShare room speaker becomes the default speaker again upon connecting the ClickShare Button to your laptop.

When you start sharing, the audio will be passed to the Base Unit and depending on the ClickShare models following will be applicable:

ClickShare Conference (CX-series): When a recognized audio device is connected (mic and speaker only) the audio will by default route to the connected peripheral to use the echo cancellation of this device during conference, if no peripheral is connected it will route the audio to the connected HDMI display.

ClickShare Presentation (CS/CSE and C-series): Audio is by default routed to the connected HDMI display.
