What can I do if there are multiple QAWeb Relays installed for one facility

Article number: [2219] - Legacy code: [11401]
It is very important to know, that you should always install one QAWeb relay for one facility on the network!!!

If for any reason, multiple QAWeb Relays are installed on the same network for one facility, then very soon you could encounter issues. Due to having multiple QAWeb Relays in the network, QAWeb Server messages can get lost, resulting in QAWeb Agents not being in sync with the QAWeb Server (concerning QAWeb policies, QA status, etc.).

When multiple relays are installed you could encounter the following symptoms:

  1.  Registration issues
  2.  Remote actions not going through
  3.  "Agent status update action" actions not going through
  4.  Policies not being applied

How to detect if I have multiple QAWeb Relays installed on the network

Please check the related KB article 11402 on how to do that.

What should I do, when I track down the additional QAweb Relay(s)

  1. When you locate the workstation/server where the additional QAWeb Relay is installed, uninstall the Relay software. Stopping services is not enough. Doing only that will bring the issue back after the next reboot of the workstation/server, where Relay is installed since the Relay services will restart automatically.
  2. Repeat step 1 for all the additional Relays, that you have found on your network, but one.
  3. If the UDP broadcast is enabled on the network, the QAWeb agents that used to connect to a removed QAWeb Relay should automatically switch to the one and only remaining QAWeb relay.

IMPORTANT TO KNOW:

If UDP broadcast is disabled you will need to check Agent by Agent via its GUI, to find out if it points to the one and remaining relay, and if not, point it manually (via the GUI) to the one and only remaining relay as explained here.
