What's the difference between a CS1 and a CS2?

Article number: [4165] - Legacy code: [4968]

CS1 is the first version of Control Server (with version V1.x.x or V2.x.x of Overture), Showcontrol products (Manager and Showmaster) are also CS type 1.

Summary of these CS1 types;

  • Medialon Manager turns any PC into a show controller.
  • Medialon Showmaster is a rack mountable computer shipped with a special version of Medialon Manager.
  • CS1 is a light version of Medialon Manager where you can create tasks, logic etc. but without advanced features like user screens, timelines, and an engine optimized for room control.

CS2 is the new version of Control Server (since Overture V3.x.x), running as a webserver.

CS2 comes as part of the Overture virtual appliance, but is also installable as a windows service.

When CS1 is connected to Overture UX, Overture UX is just a user interface on top of an existing control system. CS1 only has inbound connections.

When CS2 is connected to Overture UX, Overture UX tells the CS2 what it should do and run.

The main difference is that CS2 is the slave of the UX, while CS1 can run in complete autonomy.
