Barco healthcare monitors to provide crisp clear imaging to south India's largest cancer hospital
Since its inception in 1981, the autonomous Regional Cancer Center (RCC) in Trivandrum, India, has been providing quality care for cancer patients in the south India region. The center includes all divisions of oncology, from medical to surgical, over pediatric, radiation to microbiology and pathology.
Over 14,000 new patients are registered every year at the RCC. To offer every one of them the best possible care, the center is constantly looking to upgrade its facilities. Last year, a series of Barco medical displays was installed to complement the recently acquired digital PACS reporting system. That way, diagnostic quality as well as the overall workflow at the radiology department could be further improved. “The results have exceeded our expectations,” says Dr. Ramchandran, HOD Imaging and Radiology.Hospitals all over the world are making the switch from analogous film reporting systems to PACS-supported digital imaging solutions. Not surprisingly, as the new system offers a host of advantages, including easy manipulation of images to get the best possible view, centralization of information from different sources and maximum flexibility. Digital imaging, however, is helpless without quality monitors. At the Radiology department of the RCC, this was well understood.
