Barco Onboard First E-2D Advanced Hawkeye Delivered to US Navy

1 min de lecture

Barco is once again taking to the skies, this time onboard the new E-2D Advanced Hawkeye, the US Navy’s carrier-based airborne early warning and battle management command and control system.  The first Navy squadron to operate the E-2D Advanced Hawkeye is Airborne Early Warning Squadron ONE TWO ZERO (VAW-120), also known as the “Greyhawks.” As the Navy's Fleet Replacement Squadron (FRS), the "Greyhawks" train pilots and naval flight officers to fly the aircraft and operate the systems before assignment to an operational flight squadron.

Barco provided the customized Multi-purpose Control Display Units (MCDU) and its MOSArt Open System development platform to Northrop Grumman (NG), the prime contractor, for deployment into both cockpit and rear operator systems in the aircraft. The MOSArt-equipped MCDU’s are a key component of the Hawkeye’s Integrated Navigation, Control and Displays System (INCDS), which features a modern, all-glass, fully digital cockpit for the plane’s mission systems. The MOSART system enables Northrop Grumman application developers to fully exploit the many powerful features of the unit, including the advanced 3D graphics (OpenGL) and video capability.
