Renowned London post-production house goes 4K with Barco
Ever since its set-up in 1989, London-based ONSIGHT has been a pioneering facilities company, providing leading production and post-production services - ranging from camera and equipment rental at Shepperton Studios through to post-production in the capital - for both film and television. The use of cutting-edge technologies has always been key to creating smooth workflows for leading formats, whilst enhancing the creative process.
Early adopter
ONSIGHT is consistently among the first to offer new technologies and solutions. It was, for example, an early adopter of the 4K format. Recent ONSIGHT 4K productions include Peter Gabriel’s Back to Front film for Done and Dusted/Real World/Eagle Rock Entertainment, Paul Smith’s A Day in the Life of a Fashion Show for Sony and the 2014 BAFTA Award-winning David Attenborough’s Natural History Museum Alive (3D) for Colossus Productions. When the facilities house decided to move in April 2014, it was time for its very own dedicated 4K facility - a first to install the Barco DP 4K in a UK post facility.
To a different level
ONSIGHT chose a Barco DP 4K projector, supplied by Sound Associates, for its new 4K projection room. Simon Craddock, CEO of ONSIGHT: “ONSIGHT has always had the reputation of being a pioneer within our industry - our new facility takes this to a different level. We have a great deal of 4K experience from shoot all the way to post. It’s a workflow we are very familiar with by having the expertise in both our post and camera divisions. We are excited about the relocation and are confident that Barco’s 4K projector will duly support us in further leveraging our 4K activities. This is not the first time we have invested in Barco’s range of projectors. The company offers high quality products we can trust. Walking With Dinosaurs
One of the first 4K projects to be delivered in the new building is Walking With Dinosaurs for BBC Earth, involving the company’s digital remastering service for Giant Screen. This version is inspired by the groundbreaking BBC series and will introduce dinosaurs that are more real than ever before, while dropping moviegoers in the middle of a thrilling prehistoric adventure.
