3.1 User accounts and security

About authentication

To enhance the security of the Pulse-based projectors, authentication is required. Authentications is done at each startup by logging in with user name and password.

PIN code authentication is disabled by default on new devices. However the use of a PIN code can be enabled for end users, power users and administrators.

Using user accounts to enhance projector security

To ensure the security of the projector, Barco recommends to only make a limited amount of specific users, all while enforcing that all used passwords are strong passwords.

Tip: A strong password has a minimum of 8 characters and should be unique. The password should be a a mix of upper case letters, lower case letters, numbers and special characters.
User group details

There are four user groups in total, three of which are visible and can be controlled by an administrator.

These are the following:

The service partner is hidden by default with variably generated credentials, intended for service activities that can only be performed by authorized staff. For more information on how to obtain a service user password, refer to either the Pulse OSD user guide, or the Pulse Prospector user guide.

Caution: For security reasons, it is strongly recommended to change the default password and pin codes as soon as possible. Refer to the Pulse Prospector user guide for more info.
