Available options
There is a wide variety of RJ-45 cables available. HDBaseT requires a minimum cable category depending on the distance and the intended functionality. For more information, refer to the following table:
| Functionality | Cable category | Maximum distance | Maximum supported resolution |
| Control Panel signal | | 60 m | 1920 x 1080 @ 60 Hz |
| 70 m |
| Wired video input | | 35 m | 3840 x 2160 @ 30 Hz |
| 40 m |
Barco recommendation
Signals travelling over a long distance are more vulnerable to interference introduced by the selected cable and/or the connector. To ensure the best experience and maximize stability, Barco strongly recommends to take the following additional features of the RJ-45 cable into account on top of the HDBaseT requirement.

Tip: The recommendations are ordered from the most impact to the least impact. If signal issues are being experienced, then include more recommendations in the replacement cable.
- Shielding, the additional layer of protection offered by the shielding helps the signal not lose quality when travelling through the cable near other electrical devices, wirings or magnetic fields.
- 3-prong connector, the 3-prong connector has more grip and contact points with the internal wiring of the RJ-45 cable. For this reason, the signal gets transferred more reliably from the connector to the cable.
- Higher category, the higher the category of the cable, the more bandwidth is available to send the signal.
