Great architecture, outstanding acoustics and … crisp, clear visualization

Located in the Finnish city of Lahti, the Sibelius Hall is one of the most famous multifunctional halls in the region. The impressive 90,000m3 center, which combines a former industrial building with a brand-new wooden structure, was inaugurated in the spring of 2000 and has welcomed countless high-level congresses, concerts, exhibitions and other events ever since. More than an eye-catching architecture, the Sibelius Hall has an extraordinary acoustic design too. The Main Hall, for example, has received worldwide acknowledgement for its excellent acoustics.

Winning the shoot-out
Exceptional acoustics demand exceptional lighting and visualization too. When it was time to update the projectors in the Hall, technical manager Jukka Kaunisto decided to organize an in-house shoot-out to choose the most suitable projector. Barco’s 12,000 lumens HDX-W12 emerged victorious. “The DMX control, the chance to add extra input cards, the upgrade possibilities, the excellent image quality and good internal processing features were the key factors why we decided to go Barco,” Kaunisto explained. Barco partner msonic is pleased that its customer picked the HDX. “The HDX is an absolutely stunning projector. In multifunctional venues like Sibelius Hall, it delivers all things needed and then some,” says sales manager Petteri Partinen.
