For the live performance "The Great Journey", celebrating the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, no less than 150 Barco UDX-4K 40,000 lumens projectors were installed to create a breathtaking décor. The epic projection visual effects with outstanding live stage performances, immersed the audience into an exciting and majestic experience.
The ultimate visual effect, born for the grand scene
"The Great Journey" celebrates the 100th anniversary of the CPC. The show follows the founding narrative and is divided into four chapters: "Going forward in the fire", "Unimpeded in rain or shine", "Advancing in torrents" and "Splendid future". The comprehensive use of a variety of performing arts and AV technologies with multimedia, light & shadow arts vividly showcase the chronicle of the Chinese Communist Party leading the Chinese people to fight, construct, and reform over the past century. Chen Weiya, the chief director of the theatrical performance says, "We just want the audience to be engaged and feel that this is not only a stage, but also a real situation."
Based on this ideology, the director team was determined to create a "full 3D, immersive, theater-like" stage, and put forward rigid requirements for the effect of the projection equipment. That is clear and sharp visuals, full colors, and no distortion of the image lines. What is more, the entire stage picture must be presented uniformly and seamlessly.
The director team chose Barco UDX-4K40 projectors as the core device after a comprehensive evaluation. The UDX-4K40 laser projector has 4K UHD resolution, 40,000 lumens high brightness output and 3DLP fantastic color technology. It is perfectly qualified for the large-scale performance. Technology & strength creates a magnificent epic
150 projectors fully cover the huge stage floor of the National Stadium, ensuring the light touches every corner of the canvas and make the images seamlessly fit the turntables and large props on both sides of the stage. The projectors present a clear, complete, and seamless visual effect for audience.
In order to achieve a smooth transition with the large LED display background, the technical team adopted surface lighting, backlighting and multi-point three-dimensional projection methods based on the stage lighting structure. The live video also used computer animation (CG) technology and augmented reality (AR) technology to realize an extra wow effect for the audiences at home in front of the TV.
Barco also demonstrated a dazzling standard in terms of execution efficiency. As an important event to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the CPC founding, the "Great Journey" had a strict construction deadline testing the speed of equipment installation and commissioning.
