JTBC installs the largest rear projection video wall ever in South Korea

Seoul, KR - 2015

At the end of 2014, JTBC – South Korea’s first commercial broadcasting company – moved into its brand-new offices in Sangam Digital Media City in Seoul. The broadcaster took the opportunity to install a brand-new Barco backdrop system in its main studio. With its 18.6 by 3.5 m, it is the largest of its kind in the country.

In the past, JTBC had already contracted Barco to install a rear projection video wall composed of 70” OVL cubes. Based on an exceptionally satisfying user experience over the last 3 years, JTBC decided to partner with Barco again to build what is now South Korea’s largest backdrop system. For this project, they opted for the extremely shallow OverView OL-721 70” rear projection cubes with a native Full HD resolution, deployed in a 12x4 configuration.

Barco’s OL range offered itbc Best-In-Class Features that helped address concerns on space utilisation, lower heat dissipation, minimal user intervention, flexible deployment and superior ROI. Coupled with innovations in screen design, the set-up makes use of NoGap screens that are very user-friendly when it comes to cleaning and maintenance. In addition, the entire system – including the OL-721 Cubes and NoGap screens – is certified for resistance against seismic activity, making the system highly robust and extremely reliable.

Since JTBC – formerly TBC – (re)emerged on the South Korean market in 2011, the company has dreamt of becoming the country’s most influential broadcasting company. The new offices and state-of-the-art equipment fit right into this strategy.
