Housed in one of Norway’s most iconic buildings, the Oslo Opera House firmly believes in the power of cutting-edge technology. The latest technology to hit the venue is visual projection, powered by two Barco HDX-W14 DLP projectors, augmenting the CLM-HD8 DLP and FLM R22 projectors and the Catalyst media servers that had been in use for some time already.

“The HDX-W14 projectors are near-silent while producing impressive light output, great contrast and really good blacks. As they are compact, we can easily move them,” explains Eric Holmberg, head of the Opera House’s video department. When La Bohème premièred in January last, Holmberg and his team used the projectors’ capabilities to the max, by incorporating 3D mapping. “Opera is all about music but with video you can create an optical illusion that can really lift the show,” Holmberg concluded.
