The Tokyo Polytechnic University, (TPU) in Nakano, Tokyo, has always been a pioneer when it comes to new technologies. To offer a glimpse into the future of cinema, it decided to equip its bridge theater with Barco’s cutting-edge DP4K-23B projector and immersive Auro 11.1 speaker layout. And what better way to celebrate the upgrade than with the screening of the first-ever Japanese movie mixed in Auro 11.1?

Around sixty post production and theater students were invited to the university’s bridge theater for the prerelease screening of Fool Cool Rock – a documentary about the highly successful Japanese emo rock band One OK Rock. To allow the audience to experience the band’s passion and musical prowess to the fullest, award-winning director Hiroyuki Nakano decided to mix the movie in Auro 11.1.

For Nikkatsu Corporation, the film’s production company, the upgraded bridge theater was the perfect venue for the movie’s prerelease screening. EizouKiKi, Barco’s long-time partner in the region, took care of the installation of all necessary equipment to make the event a ‘resounding’ success.
