Virtual reality has been changing the way that the French carmaker PSA Group designs vehicles since 2004, when it established its Automotive Design Network (ADN) in Vélizy, near Paris. Featuring a Virtual Reality (VR) Center is at its heart, the 70,000m² facility is where all the R&D magic happens for Peugeot, Citroën and DS vehicles. For many years, Barco’s visualization solutions have helped PSA display immersive projections to support its engineers and technicians.
The E2 system has really helped us to improve visualization at our center, which is at the core of our design activities.
PSA’s ADN Center hosts multiple 4K projection systems, full scale displays and immersive environments. With the rise of 4K projection solutions at the center came the need to upgrade the existing stack of image processors. Barco’s E2 presentation system fit the bill perfectly. Supporting native 4K input and output, the E2 was the first and one of the only screen management systems on the market that can manage a 4K projector blend with refresh rates of up to 60Hz.
Faster switching, better images, easier control
Barco installed – and maintains – eight E2 screen management systems in total, which process data coming from PCs, video feeds and our ClickShare collaboration system. Output is handled via – 4K and 23K+ lumens – projectors, including two of our Flagship Laser projectors (DP4K-60L), and LCD displays.
