4.1 Button connection

DisplayPort Alt Mode
DisplayPort alternate mode allows compatible USB-C ports to function as DisplayPort ports. These ports can send DisplayPort signals alongside any other data or power that is normally supported by standard USB ports.
Autorun
Autorun starts a program automatically when it is connected to a device. Some security measures prevent applications from starting without user interaction. If these measures are active, autorun will not work and the program must be started manually.
About Button connection

The Button acts as a wireless connection between the Base Unit and the device. With a Button connection no resources and no wireless capabilities of the device are used to maintain the connection.

Button - Base Unit link

A Button is paired (linked) to a specific Base Unit. The Button will always attempt to connect to the paired Base Unit regardless of meeting room or another Base Unit being nearby. It is strongly advised to keep the Button in the original meeting room and close to the paired Base Unit. If another Button must be used, then pair the Button to the Base Unit before attempting to connect. For more information, see the installation manual of the Base Unit.

Desktop Button connection

The Button has two partitions. One for Windows and one for MacOS. The partition that matches the operating system of the connected device is the one that gets loaded. The other partition remains hidden.

Mobile Button connection

The 5th gen Button or newer are based on the DisplayPort Alt Mode technology. Some mobile phones may use this technology to allow a connected Button to share the mobile screen to the meeting room displays. This functionality is not actively supported by ClickShare. For the official mobile experience, see “The Mobile App”.

How to connect
  1. Connect the Button to any free USB port of the desired device as illustrated.

Wait until the Button LED ring is fully lit. The connection between the Base Unit and the device is made.

  2. Must the Button App be opened? (optional)

    • In case of autorun with a Desktop App installed, the Button App automatically opens and uses the configuration of the installed Desktop App.
    • In case of autorun without a Desktop App installed, the Button App automatically opens and uses a default configuration.
    • In case of no autorun with a Desktop App installed, the Button App with configuration of the installed Desktop App must be opened using the .exe file (Windows) or the .pkg file (MacOS) on the ClickShare drive.
    • In case of no autorun without a Desktop App installed, the Button App with a default configuration must be opened using the .exe file (Windows) or the .pkg file (MacOS) on the ClickShare drive.
