4.3 Mobile App connection

Wi-Fi
Wireless fidelity (Wi-Fi) is a wireless network that is sent out by a Wi-Fi capable network device. Connection to the Wi-Fi network is possible as long as the device is within range of the Wi-Fi capable network devices making up the network.
IP address
An IP address is a numeric address given to a device on a network. A generation four address (IPv4) is built up using four digits between ‘0’ - ‘255’, for example ‘192.168.0.50’. This allows different network devices to find each other on the network.
About wireless connection

Wireless connection makes use of the wireless capabilities of the device to setup the connection with the Base Unit. Depending on the device, it is possible that this connection prevents the device from accessing the internet.

About PresentSense

PresentSense uses the microphone of the device to detect an ultrasonic sound coming from the Base Unit. This ultrasonic sound is used to show the meeting room name in the meeting room list of the software. The Base Unit must be configured to send out this ultrasonic sound. For more information on how to configure PresentSense for the Base Unit, see the installation manual of the Base Unit.

Note: PresentSense is not available for the Hub Core and Hub Pro.
Prerequisites

Location permissions are required for the wireless connection to work.

Prerequisites

The Mobile App must installed with location permissions. For more information, see “Installing the Mobile App”.

How to connect

  1. Is the connection assistance turned on?

    • If yes and the meeting room has been entered, tap Yes, I am in a ClickShare meeting room (reference 1) and go to next step.
    • If yes and the meeting room has not been entered, tap No, show me the app first (reference 2) and go to step 4.
    • If no, go to step 4.

  2. Tap Select a WiFi network (reference 4) to see the Base Unit network.

    The Wi-Fi settings of the device are opened.

  3. Connect to the room Wi-Fi or the Wi-Fi of the Base Unit.

    A passcode is shown on the meeting room display. Go to step 8.

  4. Is the desired meeting room listed on the Mobile App home screen (reference 4)?

    • If yes, go to step 7.
    • If no, go to next step.
    Note: If the meeting room list is not visible, tap the toggle bar (reference 1)
    Tip: The ClickShare App attempts to auto complete the search while typing.

  5. Is the meeting room display or touch panel showing the meeting room name or Base Unit IP address?

    • If yes, go to next step.
    • If no and the Base Unit is in sleep mode, press the power button to wake up the Base Unit.
    Note: For more information on the location of the power button, see “The ClickShare Base Unit”.
    Tip: Where the name or IP address is displayed depends on the configuration of the Base Unit. In most cases, the ClickShare name is the same as the name of the meeting room itself.

  6. enter the name or IP address of the meeting room in the search meeting room input field (reference 3, Image 4–8).

    Tip: The ClickShare App attempts to auto complete the search while typing.

  7. Tap on the desired meeting room in the list (reference 4, Image 4–8).

    A passcode is shown on the meeting room display.

  8. Enter the displayed passcode in the input field (reference 6) using the numpad (reference 7).

    Tip: If the passcode is no longer visible, then click the back button (reference *) and go back to step 4.

    The connection between the Base Unit and the device is made and a silent ClickShare notification is added.
