The police department of Antwerp, Belgium, yesterday proudly inaugurated its brand-new dispatching and tele-command center. Barco is omnipresent: the new, five-room center features no less than six Barco video walls.

At the heart of the tele-command center is a large LED-lit video wall made up of six ultra-bright 70" projection modules (OL-710), used by the dispatchers. The special operation room and camera control room have all been equipped with smaller walls composed of NSL-5521 tiles. In the cartography room, operators monitor the vehicles currently out on the road on a large LDX-46 display with LED backlights.

The Police Department chose the offering of Fabricom/Barco after a bid procedure, on account of the excellent references of both partners and their technical expertise. In addition, it was won over by the networked concept, which allows all the data to be retrieved via the network and projected onto any display or any operator station that’s available. The direct access to all the information and the collaborative viewing enables accurate analysis and fast decision-making.

“The new walls and displays provide the infrastructure our operators need to see everything in one snapshot view, equipping them with more data and insight to make better-informed decisions and respond effectively during roadway incidents and emergencies,” said Chief of police Carlo Neyt.
